This Alpina gas tank is restored.  Gas tank was in good condition to start, inside was clean, and never leaked.  First the inside of gas tank was cleaned, and completely encased in CASWELLLL gas tank epoxy. Than tank was treated with new fiberglass lay up 2-3 layers of cloth around all mount holes to build up these typical problem areas. Tank was then completely sanded cleaned, and primed with the correct Polyeurathane  primer made for fiberglass applications. Tank was then  painted with Matrix top quality polyeuothane  paint. Paint is not a exact original factory color match to original, but very close. Then finally three wet coats of Dupont Mason (one of the best) clear coats. The quality and effort are obvious in this very nice tank. Although, if the motorcycle is intended for show, the paint is not a perfect, a very nice job indeed but minor imperfections exist. These imperfections are not enough to even mention as they are so subtle you have to look for them. A perfect paint job would run into such a high dollar figure that it would out price the unit. Also included are the original gas cap, and petcock. The petcock lever moves freely but should get new o rings as well as the seal from pet cock to tank looks good, but I would highly recommend a rebuild of the petcock Assy, last thing you need is a fuel leak .I also obtained some very nice body fairing chrome wide area button head screws with allen head. I put aside the original paint used with this tank, and will include aprox. 1/4 OZ. of each color in sealed glass viles for any touch up that may be needed some day. This is a quality, pride of workmanship item, and I'm sure the owner will be very happy with this unused since refurbished gas tank.  It made such a difference on my Bultaco  Alpina restoration it was great. I had enough left over materials that I decided to do one more. I restore bikes full time, and also offer cables for vintage bikes as well.  I'm pleased with the way this tank turned out , and I'm sure you will too if you decide to own it. Thank you.

Mercedes-Benz reveals Vision Golf Car concept

Mon, 22 Jul 2013

Mercedes-Benz has revealed a concept of what it bills as the “ultimate golf cart” as part of activities at this year's British Open at the Muirfield Golf Club in Scotland. The concept was created at Mercedes-Benz's advanced design studio in California using ideas submitted by golf fans in a competition held by the German car maker. The swoopy two-seater adopts a number of design cues from current Mercedes-Benz models along with a doorless, one-box profile to give it a contemporary appearance that transcends traditional golf cart design.

Call to cut school run car journeys

Tue, 17 Jun 2014

A 10% CUT in school run car journeys would boost Britain's economy by around £46 million a year, a sustainable transport charity has claimed. Sustrans, which is calling on the Government to formally recognise the right of every child to be able to walk or cycle to school safely, estimates that ferrying children to school by car accounts for 24% of peak time traffic. Using Department for Transport modelling to calculate the financial drain on business caused by rush-hour congestion, Sustrans estimated that a 14% reduction in car use for school runs would take 167,000 vehicles off the road with an annual "saving" of £66.2 million.
