I listed this Bultaco Mercurio tank a few months ago in bare metal. I thought that the small hammer dents leftover from the craftsman who made it were cool, but it didn't sell. I spend a lot of time filling the dents and grooves and allowing the filler material to shrink before I started painting. I primered and sanded three times before starting with the paint. I laid down one layer and waited three days before sanding. I repeated the process 12 times before I switched to 600 grit sandpaper and then to rubbing compound.

Every photo becomes a self-portrait because of the highly polished surface. There is no clear coat. What you see is polished paint. It isn't perfect. The filler neck is rough, but with the cap on no one will notice. I included the old naked tank photos for reference. See last 4 photos. There was a small dent in the right front that I filled.

There are very few Bultaco Mercurio tanks available and even fewer that look this good.

This tank will be carefully packaged and insured.

Volkswagen Golf Alltrack – VW reveal the ‘Crossover’ Golf

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The Volkswagen Golf Alltrack – a rufty-tufty ‘Crossover’ Golf With the world falling in love with cars that do things they’ll almost never need, car makers are filling more and more niches with new models that have an element of Off Road ability. Step forward the new 2015 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack. Just as they did with the Passat Alltrack, VW has taken the Estate version and made it a bit more butch, in effect turning it in to a sort of ‘Crossover’ Golf with the ability to take on (slightly) more rugged terrain.

2015 Ford Mustang Mach 1 rendered

Mon, 23 Dec 2013

File this one under "harmless speculation we're hoping Ford execs are paying attention to": Top Speed has rendered the 2015 Mustang Mach 1, giving an idea of what to expect if/when the Blue Oval trots out a hotter version of the newest pony car. The heat extractors on the hood get beefed up, and there's no missing the gigantic, adjustable front splitter. The lip spoiler on the trunk would be subtle if not for the contrasting black paint.

Toyota 1/X

Thu, 25 Oct 2007

By Jonny Smith Motor Shows 25 October 2007 11:05 What is the point of this contraption exactly? Toyota has a habit of building mind boggling concept cars that fire up the public imagination and then deliver forgettable production dross. The 1/X may just change that.
