C&L Performance 76mm Mass Air Meter Housing w/ 24 lb. Black Calibration Tube

*Free Shipping!

Fits: 86-93 Mustang 5.0 V8 with 24 lb injectors, or any size injector with custom tuning.

Part# 125 Black - For use with a conical air filter bolted directly onto the front of the MAF only.

This auction is for one C&L Performance 76mm Mass Airflow Meter Housing. It is designed to fit 89 - 93 Ford Mustangs with 5.0L V8 engines, but will also fit 86 - 88 Mustangs if they are converted over to a mass air computer. This meter can also be used on other Ford vehicles as well, but may require either custom tuning or a different sample tube. The auction includes one 76mm Mass Airflow Housing, 24# calibration tube, a security torx bit, and installation instructions. You install your factory Ford Mass Air Meter electronics into this housing.

Owners of fox body Mustangs may see a noticeable improvement in performance on both stock and modified 5.0 Mustang vehicles. The factory 55mm unit on these vehicles flows 550 cfm and is actually 5mm smaller than the stock throttle body. The C&L 76mm unit flows nearly 800 cfm, and is a direct fit replacement for the factory 55mm unit.

Dyno testing by C&L, their distributors, and the major magazines have shown that by replacing the stock unit with a C&L 76mm, you can gain as much as 11 additional rear wheel horsepower. The difference in performance on a stock engine is not primarily due to the increase in airflow, but rather through a slightly more refined calibration.

A FREE security torx bit is included for sensor removal, along with installation instructions. You must re-use your stock mass air sensor in this housing.

A BLACK sample tube is included. On 87-93 Mustangs, this is for a stock airbox or a cold air kit. If you have a conical air filter bolted directly to your mass air meter, you need a BLUE sample tube instead.

*Fuel Injectors are NOT included!

What is included in this auction?

One C&L 76mm Mass Airflow Housing, a 24# (black) sample tube, a security torx bit, and installation instructions. A black sample tube is used when running a conical air filter bolted directly onto the end of the MAF.

Which sample tube do I need?

The BLUE sample tube is for a Fox body Mustang with 24# injectors and either the stock air filter box, or a cold air kit.
The BLACK sample tube is for a Fox body Mustang with 24# injectors and a conical high flow air filter like the one I sell, or a typical K&N cone filter, that is clamped directly onto the front of the MAF.

You must use the correct sample tube for your application. If you need the BLUE sample tube, look in my Ebay store for that auction.

Does this unit require custom tuning?

Not on a stock 89-93 Mustang with 24# injectors. On other Ford applications, probably so.

Can you write me a custom tune for this mass air meter?

Yes! And by writing a custom tune to a chip, we do not need to size this mass air meter to your injector size. Instead, we can choose a meter size that matches the horsepower capability of your engine. Please consult me about this concept before purchasing a meter if you are interested in custom tuning.

How much horsepower will this meter support?

The physical size of this meter can support quite a bit of power. The electronic range of the meter is more of a limiting factor, and that range depends on what size sample tube is used, and whether or not you have a custom chip. If you are unsure about what MAF size to use, consult me before purchasing.

What air filter do you recommend?

We recommend you run a conical air filter bolted directly onto the front of the MAF. We carry high quality conical air filters in our Ebay store, in all sorts of sizes. The 5.0L Mustangs take a 3.5" neck, 8" long conical filter. If you decide to run a stock airbox or fenderwell cold air kit, you need MAF part# 125 Blue, not this MAF. The correct MAF is available in my Ebay store.

What are the dimensions of this MAF?

The inside diameter is 76mm (2.99"). The front O.D. is 3.5". The rear O.D. is 3.4".

Can this meter be used with other size injectors?

Yes, but you would have to either have custom chip tuning, or use a different sample tube.

Do you have a matching 76mm inlet pipe available?

Yes! And you can buy the MAF housing and inlet tube together as a package, and save money. You can also buy the inlet tube separately. Please check my Ebay store for the inlet tube or MAF/Inlet Combo.

Does this MAF come with the sensor?

No. The C&L design has you re-use the stock 89-93 Mustang mass airflow sensor electronics. You simply remove two security torx bits, and swap your original sensor over to the C&L housing.

Does this MAF work with the stock rubber inlet hose?

Not as is. It will, if you turn the outlet of the MAF down on a lathe to 3.15" O.D. As it is, the outlet of the MAF is 3.40" O.D. to match up to the thickness of a C&L 76mm inlet pipe. You can also mate this to a thin wall aluminum inlet pipe by using a reducer coupler that goes from 3.5" to the O.D. of your inlet pipe. Regardless of the O.D. of this MAF, the I.D. remains 2.99".

Ask me about burning you a custom chip for this Mass Air Meter, and your Ford Racing injectors!

Check out our matching 76mm Air Inlet Pipe!

Note: Picture shows a machined outlet that's turned down to the stock inlet hose diameter. This meter has the as-cast 3.40" O.D. outlet that is not turned down. It is best suited for mating up with the C&L 76mm aluminum inlet tube, which has about the same O.D. as this MAF.

Highway Code braking distances questioned

Thu, 14 Aug 2014

THE ACCURACY of facts and figures in the Highway Code has been called into question after research by the RAC showed that many drivers underestimate official stopping distances. As part of the organisation's Report on Motoring 2014, drivers were asked to identify the Highway Code's stated stopping distances from different speeds, but the majority “seriously underestimated” the figures. However, a separate survey by Right Driver of 1,000 Advanced Driving Instructors (ADIs) revealed that the vast majority strongly believe that the official braking distances have become irrelevant and should be updated.

Lamborghini Aventador J at 2012 Geneva motor show

Mon, 05 Mar 2012

There maybe other Italian sports car manufacturers looking to hog the limelight at the 2012 Geneva motor show (and Ferrari and its 730bhp F12 is one of them) but Lamborghini will vie for attention with the Aventador J. A two-seat, open top speedster based on the Aventador LP700-4, it has some intriguing bits of carbonfibre tech and highly individual design. Named 'J' after the FIA’s Appendix J that governs the tech spec of race cars in certain classes, it’s proper bedroom wall material – but little boys and girls are unlikely to ever see it on the road as it’s a one-off and will go to a lucky owner after its appearance at Geneva.

Professional designers create US icons of tomorrow on CCS' Cultural Immersion Workshop

Tue, 20 Aug 2013

This year's College of Creative Studies' Cultural Immersion Workshop saw 10 design professionals from Asia – seven of which had never been Stateside before – tour the Midwest on a cultural exploration mission as they sought to provide a fresh perspective on American car culture... in just 27 days. This trip provided the foundation for the innovative concepts that were unveiled at the college on 16 August.
