174-mph Volkswagen Golf R400 heads for Beijing motor show
Thu, 17 Apr 2014Volkswagen has divulged plans to reveal a spectacular new Golf R-based concept car called the Golf R400 at this weekend's Beijing auto show. Said to preview a possible limited production model from Volkswagen's increasingly active R performance car division, the Golf R400 runs a powered-up version of the Golf R's turbocharged 2.0-liter direct-injection gasoline engine aimed at providing it with the sort of firepower to match the current king of the Euro hot hatchback brigade, the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG. VW The VW Golf R400 makes 395 hp from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

Sketch of Hyundai i40 / Sonata The real deal is not quite as swoopy/futuristic as the real deal, but actually the real car is pretty impressive looking.
Ferrari 612 Shooting Brake NOT the new 612
Thu, 06 Jan 2011Ferrari 612 Shooting Brake Spy shot Last week we ran a story about the replacement for Ferrari’s four-seat supercar, the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti. The basic premise was that Ferrari would be bringing the replacement for the 612 Scaglietti to the Geneva Motor Show in March, and that it would feature a new, 650bhp V12 engine, and 4×4 platform and be a Shooting Brake. All of which was a cobbling together from bits of information we’ve received when we started to dig around for information after Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo recently said there will be a “very different Ferrari” at Geneva.
