Help for Camaro and Firebird LS1 engine swaps

Relocate your air conditioning compressor with this bracket package.

  • It's professionally engineered and tested.
  • The clean design looks like it came from the factory.
  • It's so inexpensive you won't even have to get permission from your wife.

Here's a Kwik and easy solution to your LSx AC compressor problems

  • You may have clearance issues with the frame or crossmember. That's especially true for chassis such as S-10s, early Camaros and Chevelles, and many full size Chevy pickups.
  • LS1 "variable displacement" compressor is not compatible with most earlier factory AC systems or with most aftermarket systems.

Here's how to solve those problems:

  • Use an aftermarket compressor like the popular Sanden.
  • Mount it with a bracket kit from Kwik Performance, Inc.

This listing fits LS1 family engines with Camaro/F-body/GTO front accessories (crank pulley, water pump, alternator, power steering pump and driver's side brackets) only. Does not fit 2010-11 Camaro engine. See our other auctions for Corvette and truck/SUV/2010 Camaro versions.

These pictures show the Corvette version. This Camaro version is very similar.

Features and benefits

  • Uses Sanden 508, SD5, or SD7 compressor.
  • Stresses and vibrations evaluated with Finite Element Analysis and prototype testing.
  • Tensioner placed in its proper position - between the air conditioner compressor and the crankshaft pulley, in the slack portion of the belt.
  • Belt and tensioner geometry optimized for proper belt tension - equivalent to OEM tension requirements.
  • All pulleys aligned with each other within SAE specifications.
  • Zinc plated fasteners used throughout for corrosion resistance and great appearance.
  • All brackets made from 6061-T6 aluminum for light weight, good looks, and rust-free appearance. Matches the all-aluminum LSx engines.
  • All plates are cut on a computer-controlled, ultra-high pressure water jet.
  • All tensioners, pulleys, belts, compressors, alternators, etc. are standard, easily available items.

What is included:

  • Front and rear compressor attachment plates.
  • Water pump brace plate.
  • Spacer tubes.
  • Idler pulley mount.
  • All fasteners needed to attach the brackets to the engine, and the compressor to the brackets.
  • Smooth pulley for use on the tensioner.

Additional parts needed to complete the installation (not included in this kit):

  • Camaro LS1 main belt tensioner with 6 groove pulley. (The pulley will be removed and used as the idler pulley.)
  • Six-rib belt, length such that the tensioner indicator arrow is between the max and min marks.
  • LSx Engine with Camaro crank pulley, water pump, power steering pump, alternator, and driver side bracket.
  • Sanden air conditioner compressor, part number 4514 (SD5 series), 4522 (SD5 series), 4665 (SD7 series), or 9537 (508 series). In addition, because of the wide variety of Sanden compressors, other part numbers with the same pulley placement will work. Contact Sanden for other options.

Skoda Superb Combi Outdoor with added Rufty-Tufty

Wed, 06 Jun 2012

The Skoda Superb Combi Outdoor is the Skoda take on the VW family ‘Allroad’, with a raised ride height and bolt-on plastic goodness. Even now, when Skoda has all but managed to shake off the mantle of Soviet Skip, the Superb Combi is still a much underrated car. The Superb Combi looks good, is well equipped and far more appealing than its (perfectly decent) hatch sibling.

Concept Car of the Week: Saab 9X (2001)

Fri, 05 Jul 2013

With a glorious heritage, a strong and understated design philosophy combined with a focus on technology and innovation, it is sad to have witnessed how GM's questionable management led to Saab being completely wiped off the map in just a decade. The vision of what this iconic brand could have been still haunts many car enthusiasts around the globe. The 9X concept is, along with the AeroX, one the most exciting concepts produced by the Swedish manufacturer.

(Gas) Tax Day: How much are you paying?

Mon, 18 Apr 2011

Today is April 18, also known as Tax Day in the United States. Since we're car enthusiasts and not accountants, we decided to ignore the half-finished 1040 on the kitchen table and take a look at a tax that means a lot more to us--the gas tax. The gas tax is the portion of every gallon that pays for road maintenance and other transportation projects.
