Subaru XV gets world’s first self-cleaning function (+ video)

Mon, 01 Apr 2013

Subaru UK has revealed that the Subaru XV Crossover can now be specified with the world’s first self-cleaning function for a car. It’s a decent effort from Subaru, with added credibility as a compact urban warrior coming from Subaru’s 4WD prowess, a choice of a couple of petrol engines and a couple of diesels, manual or auto options and prices from £21k to £30k. But in a crowded market place it’s good to have a USP, so Subaru has pushed the boat out and is offering a world first for the Subaru XV – a self-cleaning function.

Project Car Hell, Rock-and-Stick-Simple Off-Road Trucks Edition: Land Rover or Scout?

Mon, 26 May 2014

Last week, the Hell Garage Demons went back 100 years for a couple of challenging centenarian projects, and the temperature of the Automotive Lake of Fire—conveniently located between the junkyard that always closes five minutes before you show up and the parts store whose counter guys have never heard of your make of car—accordingly rose another few hundred degrees. This week, we've decided to go with the kind of vehicles you'll want when society collapses and "rugged individualists" will need to drive many miles down a road of skulls and broken whiskey bottles to barter rat pelts for handy Clovis points. That's right, simple off-road trucks with few moving parts and a heritage of simplicity—none of this complicated computerized crap, modern alloys and independent suspension (at either end) here, just a steel box with enough running gear to make it move.

Tue, 14 Jan 2014

The Kia GT4 Stinger concept (pictured) has been revaled in Detroit Kia say the GT4 Stinger Concept – revealed at Detroit after a series of teasers ahead of the reveal – is their take on a purebred, affordable sports car. And it looks very promising. Under the bonnet of the striking GT4 Stinger sits a modified version of Kia’s 2.0 litre turbo petrol engine, which is good for 311bhp and drives the rear wheels through a six-speed manual ‘box, with a set of 20″ alloys with centre locking and carbon fibre inserts covering 15″ cross-drilled discs and four piston callipers for stopping power.
