Aviation Champion spark plugs don't have the best benefit-cost ratio:

  • Rapid fouling during ground ops
  • Insulator cracks during transition from ROP to LOP
  • Failing resistor within 3-4 years of service (discard plug if more than 5K Ohm)
  • Quite expensive
  • Tractor-era design

This spark plug adapter makes possible using modern automotive spark plugs in Lycoming & Continental aviation engines instead of REM/RHM series, like REM38E or RHM40E.

            • Modern automotive spark plugs evolutioned far away from tractor era engines
            • Automotive spark plugs are more reliable and capable to run in much worse conditions
            • Adapter saves cylinder thread from wearing
            • OK to use CHT gasket probe
            • Installation is reversible
            • Replaces both REM and RHM spark plug series
            • Adapters made from iron bronze, no temperature stress to cylinder head
            • Very cheap to operate, even with Iridium type sparks: fast ROI & money save!

Copper washer included. Minor modification of HT wire required (reversible). Not certified, experimental only.

Canada urged to adopt European car safety standards

Mon, 23 Dec 2013

CANADA has been urged to adopt European standards for new vehicle safety by the president of Mercedes-Benz Canada. Tim Reuss told reporters that if EU rules, which apply to all cars built by European industrial powerhouses like Mercedes and the Volkswagen Group, were in place Canada would already have new, more efficient, safer cars. At present Mercedes cannot import the A-Class because of the expense associated with modifying it to conform to Canadian safety requirements, and Mr Reuss argues that the current approach lacks common sense.

First Sight: Daimler-BYD electric car design renderings leak out

Computer renderings of an electric car, being jointly developed by BYD Co., a Chinese battery and car producer that began making cars only less than a decade ago, and Daimler AG with more than a century of experience - were leaked for the second time this year. The car marks a critical juncture for the young Chinese carmaker based in the south China industrial hub of Shenzhen, just a stone's throw away from Hong Kong. It is also a key initiative in China, now the world's biggest auto market, for Daimler.

Mitsubishi L200 gets 5 year / 125k mile warranty

Mon, 01 Oct 2012

The Mitsubishi L200 pick-up – a cross between a truck and a car – now comes with a 5 year, 125,000 mile warranty. We don’t usually do commercial vehicle news on Cars UK, but the Mistubishi L200 isn’t just a commercial pick-up, it also does a passable job as a family runaround. When we reviewed the L200 in Barbarian spec a couple of years ago we had a lot of fun.
