Upgrade your 1986-1993 Mercedes-Benz E-class car or repair your 1994-95 car with this late-124 “Sound System” wiring harness. Part # 124-820-68-04, it was used in 1994-1995 “facelift” E-class cars. It can be transplanted into earlier models, allowing use of the later electronics. Includes antenna cable, part # 202-820-07-17. Not for use in station wagon (T-sedan); may not fit coupe or convertible.

This cable is used with the following components (not included)

  • Radio Becker BE-1492 part # 003-820-36-86 or equivalent, also fits Becker BE-1692, uses two 8-pin connectors and one 10-pin connector plus antenna.
  • Trunk-mounted 6-CD changer, Becker 3196 or equivalent, part # 002-820-59-89 or part # 202-545-37-28 or part # 002-820-58-89, uses one 10-pin connector. Other part numbers may have been used.
  • Dual trunk-mounted amplifiers, part # 124-820-17-89 (each). Each amplifier uses a single 12-pin connector.
  • Six speakers (dash, front doors, rear deck)

The connectors in the cable, from left to right (in the long picture of the harness all stretched out) are (1) twin plugs for twin amplifiers and single plug for CD-changer, in trunk, (2) rear deck speakers, (3) front door speakers and power wire to +12 Volts, (4) triple plugs for head unit, front speaker wires, ground wires, connection for electric antenna motor (power cable to the antenna motor is NOT included).

Complete as removed from a 1994 E320. Complete harness in one piece with no cuts, no splices, and no repairs. All connectors for the entire sound system as installed at the factory are included—all the wiring from the radio head to all of the speakers (dash, front doors, and rear deck), the twin power amplifiers, and the 6-CD changer. The harness has been in clean, dry indoor storage since 2009. It has been tested and it is ready to be installed. A separate signal cable for the radio antenna is included.

This sale is for the wiring harness and the antenna signal cable only. Tested and guaranteed.  Mercedes calls the expensive factory stereo that uses this harness the “Sound System.” The “cheap” one is called the “Active Loudspeaker System;” it uses only a single power amplifier in the trunk. Please make sure this is the right cable for your project.
