A classic symptom of a bad wheel bearing in your classic 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954 Chevrolet is noise. If a wheel is making "funny" noises when driving (squeaks, chirps, squeals, moans, etc.), or you hear a grinding noise when turning, it may indicate a bad wheel bearing. Other symptoms include steering wander or possibly a pull to one side when braking. To determine how bad the bearings actually are you should roll down your windows and drive very slow, all the while listening. Perform a few tests like this, and drive at a normal speed to see if the noise is still present. You can even have a buddy help you by standing outside as you drive and listening as well. If you determine your wheel bearings are bad, you need to replace them. Don't wait because bad bearings can weld themselves to the hub, causing your wheel to actually fall off! It's Eckler's Early Chevy to the rescue with this high quality replacement wheel bearing.
