Materials are readily available at most hardware stores (I bought everything at the Home Depot) The computer permitted the proper geometry to be developed so that THE HOOD BACK RISES BEFORE IT TILTS! This is very important to prevent the back of the hood from scraping the paint on the cowl as the hood is opened. Many hinges offered by street rod shops do not have the correct geometry and result in constant paint chips on the hood edge and cowl. The plans have been tested by actually building a set of hinges to insure that your project will be a success and that you will be proud of the results.
The hinges were originally designed to convert side opening hoods on 1930's car to front opening designs. With that said I do know that these hinges have been also used on at least a couple of different other applications. An antique boat engine hatch and a 1930's car's trunk lid now operate with these hinges.
Included are a set of full size blue prints for each component, assembly drawing, a bill of materials, and full instructions. All drawings are of professional quality developed using the latest in CAD (computer aided design) software. |
