These universal joints are manufactured to meet or exceed original equipment specifications. This results in a better fit, reduced vibration and less maintenance. The journal crosses are heat-treated and engineered to maximize life. Specially designed lubrication grooves are used to ensure grease penetration to the entire journal and needle bearings. The nitrile rubber seals are long wearing and abrasion resistant. They optimize grease retention and prevent contamination. For this particular application the outdrive shaft assembly yolk requires two (2) of these U-joints. #9 in the schematic pictured above. The older (late 80's ealry 90's) Mercruiser Alpha and Volvo/Penta uses the same shaft/yolk assembly.
