Description:

ACDelco Professional, premium aftermarket Molded Coolant Hoses are composed of specially blended materials to help resist electrochemical degradation (ECD), the leading cause of hose failure. They are specially designed, GM OE style factory-molded hoses to fit todays smaller, tighter-fitting engine compartments. ACDelco Professional Molded Coolant Hoses are temperature rated from -40 degrees Fahrenheit to 275 degrees Fahrenheit (-40 degrees Celsius to 135 degrees Celsius) and are approved for Marine applications. Do not use for fuel or oil transfer applications. These premium aftermarket replacement molded coolant hoses are manufactured to meet or exceed your expectations for fit, form, and function.

Tips

  • Examine hoses every 12 months. Look for leaks, cracks, or rot. Replace when showing signs of wear.
  • Tighten any loose clamps. Replace clamps when replacing hoses.
  • Have cooling system inspected immediately if instrument panel-mounted temperature gauge indicates engine overheating.
  • Periodically remove bugs, leaves, and other debris from the front of the radiator. They can block airflow and substantially reduce cooling efficiency.
  • Though electrochemical degradation occurs from the inside out, you can feel for voids, cracks, or weak spots. Squeeze the hose with your thumb and two or three fingers. If youre not sure, remove the hose and check it visually.

FAQ

  • Can an automotive hose detach during use?
  • Yes, make sure the hose clamps are screwed on tightly when installing.
  • Can an automotive hose freeze in the winter?
  • Yes when theres water in the hose. Thats why its important to follow the vehicle manufacturers recommendation on the use of engine coolant.
  • Can I use the same automotive hose for multiple uses?
  • No, use the hose in the way its listed in the ACDelco belts and hoses catalog.
  • Will I know when it is time to replace an automotive hose?
  • Yes, this requires inspection, though. When the engine is cool, squeeze the hoses with your thumb and forefinger near the clamps. Feel for soft or mushy spots. A good hose will have a firm yet pliant feel. Also, Inspect for cracks, nicks, bulges (usually while hot), or a collapsed section in the hose and oil contamination, or fraying near the connection points.
  • Are there steps I can take to ensure a longer automotive hose life?
  • No
  • Will a worn automotive hose affect gas mileage?
  • No

Troubleshooting

  • Signs of electrochemical degradation include voids, cracks, or weak spots on the inside of the hose.
  • Signs of internal heat damage include slight swelling of the hose cover.
  • Signs of external heat damage include hardening or cracking of the hose cover.
  • Other signs of wear include oil damage, abrasion damage, brittleness, lack of heat/cooling within the cabin, ozone damage, and leakage of the hose.
