Custom stand off stud, made for 8 rib LS1 F bodies, to fix the belt wrap issue. Made from 7076 T-6 Aluminum.
This part FIXED THE SLIP PROBLEM!!!
This is my car pictured here, what I did, is I machined my plate, which cost me 50$, also, I needed to machine the plate, to fit the 5 inch pulley, there was interference. 50$ total.
I used a 10x48 stud, from ace hardware that screws into the standoff, and a flange 10 mm nut, 1.5 mm pitch, with a 15 mm head. I have no problem getting a wrench in,as seen in the pics.
So
what has to be done, is you screw the stand offs on the car first, then you
bring the plate up, with the blower bolted on, rest the plate on the stud, and slid the nut on, and slowly turn the nut. I did this, so I could run all the bolts for the blower, the idler pulley blocks one of the bolt holes.
However, if your running a stock ls1 with around 8 or 10 lbs, you dont
really need to machine your plate like I did. You can choose not to run the bolt, were you have 4 bolts left securing the blower. I will have high rear
wheel hp, and wanted to run all the blower bolts, and I am glad, I found a way
to do that. It solved my belt issue hands down!!
The
belt I needed was 46.25, gates has a green stripe belt, that is 46.5,
part number k080465. That worked out perfect for me!! What you want to do, is measure the size belt you need, and try to find the tightest fitting belt possible. Mine was a 1/4 inch bigger, that way, there is lots of room to tighten the system, once the belt wears in.
I only have small a supply of these parts. After that, no more, because they are
very expensive to machine in small runs. This will fix your slip problems.
Thanks, hope you like.
