Up for grabs is an authentic Medium-Large Pan (12.5" wide) Early Model BATES LEATHER SEAT WITH BATES BIKE LOGO STAMP in great condition with tons of riding time left on it, even after surviving a bike fire!  How cool is that?  This seat will tell a real story on any bike above and beyond the typical patina!! 

This is one of the hardest to find Bates seat pan sizes and perfect for that period correct Knucklehead, Panhead, Shovelhead or Indian.

Has the early model Bates Bike Logo stamp in the leather on top! (See photo 2) 

With too may fakes and too many questionable "authentic" Bates seats out there buy with confidence that you're getting a genuine Bates... and why buy a seat with the sticker on the bottom when you can have one with the stamped leather on top... who exactly is looking under your seat?!

CONDITION:

Please take a careful look at all of the pictures and make your own final determination on the condition, I have taken the time to take as many detailed pictures as possible so buyer knows exactly what they are getting. 

-Leather cover is in very good solid condition on top with the only major issues underneath.  Seat shows signs of having survived a bike fire and to me that tells a story on your old chop that is way cooler than the regular old "patina". 

-Top cover has a slight indent in the leather and a small crack in the top layer (not all the way through the leather), both are shown in detail in photo 7.  Top also shows white marks and spots, visible in photos 1-7, which I believe to be fire extinguisher residue!

-Top cover has visible evidence of having been on a bike that caught fire on the underside (see photos 8-11).  Cover is still very solidly mounted but has a large burned out area on the left side and  melted looking areas at the very front and at the rear (see photos 9, 10, 11).  Also has 1 typical area of wear-through from abrasion where the cover wraps around the pan that can be seen in photo 12.

-Seat pan is in excellent solid shape. 

-Front mounting bolts are both intact, however the rear stud has been cut but still has enough thread left to be useable (see photos 8, 9, 10, 12).  

-Rear mounts both need work.  Please take a look at photo 11 for a closeup:  Right stud is fully intact but slightly bent and in need of having the threads chased/re-threaded.  Left stud has broken off all the way down at the nut where it is welded to the pan and will need to be replaced.
