Keep intake temperatures low and remove a bottleneck in the intake system with this ATP Turbo Front Mount Intercooler Upgrade for 2013-2016 Focus STs.

The ATP Turbo Intercooler utilizes Garrett's High Density Bar and Plate Core with ATP Turbo cast endtanks. Garrett's core assembly is rated to 600 HP leaving plenty of room for other upgrades. Cast aluminum turn elbows connect the intercooler to the factory 2-1/2" intercooler hoses. A mounting flange for the stock sensor is prewelded and placed in the stock location for easy installation. This intercooler is perfect for any mild to wild Focus ST as it will support thermal duties and flow duties from the stock turbo all the way up to 600 HP GTX applications. Even with the increased size of the intercooler, throttle response is not hurt.

Installation is a simple bolt-on procedure and doesn't require any cutting for fitment. The stock front shroud still fits to guide airflow into the intercooler and the stock lower bellypan cover fits as well. However, the factory grille shutter assembly must be removed. All necessary hardware is included.

During testing it was discovered that the stock intercooler quickly becomes a restriction. ATP Turbo flashed the ECU to increase boost and added a 3" downpipe only to find that there was a choking point in the system. The factory intercooler couldn't keep up with its thermal duties (rise in charge air temperatures) or flow-thru duties. This caused a severe pressure drop across the core limiting ultimate flow and HP. Before unleashing anymore power, an intercooler upgrade was needed.
