Akrapovic systems are designed for riders who demand maximum performance from their motorcycle. These systems are significantly lighter when compared to the stock exhaust and feature exceptional production quality, hi-tech materials and of course - increased engine performance combined with a pure racing sound. The exhaust was developed to complement the racing character of the GSX-R1000.

PERFORMANCE

Power & Torque: The system provides a linear increase throughout the entire range, with the greatest boost at the very top of the RPMs. The rear wheel put out a huge 176.3 HP at 12150 RPM on Akrapovic's dyno. The maximum increase in power over the stock system was an incredible 12.9 HP at 6800 RPM. The torque curve also reflects the exhaust system upgrade. The engine is more responsive in the low end and will provide much more torque through entire RPM range.

CONFIGURATION

The 4-2-1-2 configuration exhaust system uses stainless steel throughout, except for the dual mufflers themselves, which are made from a combination of titanium and carbon fiber. The upper part of the header tubes are conical and formed using the state-of-the-art hydroforming procedure, where the tubes are precisely shaped using pressurized water. Using this procedure, Akrapovic obtained maximum efficiency of the exhaust gas flow. The system leads into two cylindrical collectors, which goes to a single collector. This collector then branches out into two link pipes leading to dual mufflers. The mufflers' outer sleeves and outlet caps are carbon-fiber. The interior of each muffler is made of titanium. All tubes are connected with sleeve joints held together with silicon-shielded tensioning springs. The mufflers are attached to the passenger footpegs with a pair of carbon-fiber clamps.
