Up for auction is one rebuilt Ford Model A
Zenith 1 Carburetor. (Air Balanced) The Zenith 1 has raised letters on the front of the bowl. The carburetor has been machined internally for those of you that want to run
an air cleaner and not lose performance. By machining certain parts of
the carburetor it equalizes the pressure between the gas bowl and the air
intake. This allows the carburetor to
achieve the proper air/fuel mixture if you want to run an air filter. There is nothing visible on the outside of
the carburetor after machining. These
carburetors are sold in Model A parts catalogs for $399.00
to $450.00. My starting price is much lower than these prices but more than a standard rebuilt carburetor. I put a lot of new parts on these carburetors as you can see below. I run one on my car and liked it so much I decided to create tooling and manufacture them myself.
Air Balanced is not just a term used to describe a carburetor it is a process done to the carburetor to enhance the performance of the engine if one is using an air filter on their carburetor. You can also run without a air filter and you will feel a difference. I see carburetors on Ebay stating their Air Balanced but from what I can see in the pictures they are not.
I have sold over 90 of these carburetors in less than two years with no complaints and no returns. Some have even bought two or more after receiving their first one. I have one customer who has bought four of them.
The carburetor has been soaked in
carburetor cleaner, brass plugs removed to clean all passages bead blasted, painted with semi gloss black epoxy paint that is
gas proof. I replace the brass plugs
that were removed, chase threads, install new throttle bushings if needed,
adjust float level and flow test all jets for proper flow and re size if
needed to achieve a better running motor. All parts are put through a cleaning process and then are examined to make sure they are useable.
New parts are choke lever, choke plate, drain plug, adjustment needle housing, choke driver, choke nut and washer, air mixture screw, strainer, Venturi, stop screw, gasket kit, butterfly screws, brass plugs, main bolt and intake bolts and washers. I was able to use a few original parts without jeopardizing the performance and the appearance of the carburetor. In fact I would rather use older parts to rebuild the carburetors. They don't make the parts like the use to. I also machined and installed a new brass gas inlet seat.
The final test is on my car which is essential for the perfect rebuild. If you don't test run and road test each rebuild there potentially will be problems with the carburetor that the buyer should not have to deal with when buying a rebuilt carburetor.
I installed on my 30' coupe to check for leaks, idle, acceleration and sudden stop stalling. Carburetor runs excellent with no leaks, idles perfect and accelerates very nice and smooth. Car idled down to 270 rpm on testing and was set to 365 rpm for running purposes. Car ran up to 60+ mph on test drive. I leave carburetor adjusted the
way it was on my car, you may have to adjust to your car as needed. Any questions please email me and I will respond as soon as possible.
Thanks and Happy Bidding.
I road test all carburetors before selling !!!
