Many model V8 cars equipped with a 6 Speed T56 or 6060 manual transmission are programmed to lock out second gear under certain conditions. They do this to improve fuel economy by forcing a 1 to 4 shift. At times this can be dangerous if the vehicle is not traveling fast enough for fourth gear.
