Cracked Cylinder Head Overview:
There have been three distinctly different heads with five different casting numbers installed on the 4.0L since 1990. The combustion chamber was changed in '95 and the exhaust ports were revised in '98.
1990-'94 All and ‘95-'96 Aerostar
The original 90TM casting had an oval-shaped chamber that was slightly bigger in diameter on the intake side. It was replaced in '93 by the 93TM-AA casting that was exactly the same. These heads can be identified by the letter "T" located on the top of the right rear/left front exhaust port.
1995-'97 Ranger, Explorer and '97 Aerostar
The 95TM-AD casting that came out in '95 had the heart-shaped, fast-burn chambers that shrouded the intake valves. It was replaced by the 97TM casting in '97, but it was the same, so they can be used interchangeably. These castings were used on the Ranger and Explorer from '95 through '97 and on the Aerostar in '97. They can be identified by the letter "U" that's located on the top of the right rear/left front exhaust port.
Symptoms of Cracked Cylinder Head:
- Unexplained coolant loss
- Oil pressure loss after starting and/or warming up.
- No heat; Low coolant.
- Poor idle; Misfire.
- Check Engine Light.
Causes of Cracked Cylinder Head:
- Overheating
- lack of maintenance
- low coolant
- not checking coolant, hoses, fan, thermostat regularly
- Flush Cooling system regularly

Local Pickup
Customers are welcome to pick up products to save on shipping costs Monday - Friday 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM EST and Saturday by Appointment Only. Sorry no Sunday pickups. Please call 866-497-2127 before you come to pick up your item as all items are not stock at our warehouse.

The prices listed in our ad reflect standard ground shipping and handling charges delivered to a commercial address, residential address or freight dock located in the lower 48 US States. Customers must have means to unload residential freight by themselves or have it shipped to a freight dock for later pick up. Most freight items will be shipped the same day as payment is received. Lift gate service, inside delivery, construction site delivery, guaranteed delivery and international residential delivery are all extra service charges. Return Policy:

Our return policy gives you 30 days from the date of delivery to return any product, provided it's new, unused and in the original packaging as received.
If an item is opened and deemed to be defective within 30 days from the date of delivery, please return the item to us and we will replace it with an identical item or issue full credit.
If an item is opened and brand new you can still return the item for a refund minus the cost of shipping to you.
All return shipping and handling charges are the responsibility of the buyer. Sorry, we cannot accept returns for any reason after 30 days from the date of delivery.
When returning an item please write the reason for the return on a piece of paper and place it inside the box. We also require the customer to clearly write the RGA# on the outside of the box. No returns will be accepted without a rga#. Please contact our customer service department at 866-497-2127 for a return goods authorization number.
If the item is returned and not in 100% new sellable condition, we will credit 75% of the original selling price minus shipping and handling costs.
