Once you install the performance tune on your mustang by just simply plugging the tuner into the port under your steering wheel and following the onscreen instructions, you will notice significant gains in performance. The company, Superchips, advertises that their tune will give a 10% increase in HP and a 13% in torque for your s197.

I used this tuner on my s197 pony car and loved it. An additional benefit to having the tuner is the ability to read and clear your own diagnostic codes. There is a book that explains the meaning of each code that will be included with the tuner. 

Many aftermarket air intakes require a performance tune in order to insure that your vehicle doesn't run too rich, or too lean.
