Whether it is a sportsman level circle track car, a bracket class drag racer, or a good old fashioned demo derby ride, no matter what you strap yourself into on a Saturday night, you should be thinking about your safety. Your number one fans (your family!) love to watch you race, but they also want to see you make it through your race weekend. We can’t always control what happens on the racing surface, so your best bet is to be properly protected for those instances where you’re simply “along for the ride” and need to keep yourself protected from instances of fire. A quality racing suit is just what you need, and our double layer FRC-based pants are the perfect answer for many racing classes that do not require Nomex-based protective gear.
Our SFI-5 driving suit pants offer peace of mind and when it comes to fire protection. The double layer, SFI 3.2A/5 fire suit pants have a TPP (Thermal Protection Performance) rating of 19, promising up to ten seconds of protection from second degree burns. While ten seconds doesn’t sound like much time, with practice you should easily be able to release your harness and exit your race car within a period that the TPP rating will be sufficient. Learn more about SFI and TPP Ratings by reading our tech article, . You can also pair these pants with our and to increase your fire protection TPP values.
The popular one-piece driving suit construction often creates issues with those of differing body types. If you have a short inseam, but perhaps bigger across the chest, a one piece suit that fits in the chest area will usually mean overly long pants legs that bunch up. Opting for a two piece suit combination means you can choose different sizes for your driving suit pants and your jacket. For example, you may utilize a “Large” pants size and a “X-Large” jacket size for the best fit. The pants feature a boot cut with stirrups that provide more protection around the ankles while preventing the pant legs from riding up.
The racing pants feature a shiny finish that helps prevent dirt accumulation yet are completely washable in standard home appliances using any one of our products. Though spot cleaning is often all your suit will need. Be sure to follow washing instructions carefully to prevent reduction in fire-retardant capabilities of the pants.
