During the Second World War, most Liaison airplanes were equipped with RCA communications radios. The AVR-20-A was the receiver used in this installation. They tuned frequencies in the HF band from 2300 to 6500 KHz, completely different from the VHF airband of today. These radios have become very rare and are sought after by aircraft restorers who want an authentic restoration. Of course, since they don't tune the current air band, they are completely useless for communications.
This radio is in reasonable condition for its age and perfect for finishing off a winning Liaison airplane restoration. The front panel is especially in good condition. The case can easily be repainted.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This radio is being sold FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY. Even though it appears nice, there is NO assurance that it is functional. Since electronic components fail from age, it would be unwise to even try to power it up.
