FMINDK49 is a cold air induction system for the Alfa Giulia/Stelvio 2.0TB. With the huge success of the Quadrifoglio range of Alfa Romeos, there have been many performance products produced to cater for this segment, however we have found that the 2.0TB platform has been neglected for performance upgrades. The 2.0TB is already a strong performing engine but has potential for more power to be exploited with the right modifications. So, here at Forge, we have been developing a range of performance products to achieve this and the jewel in our crown is our induction kit, FMINDK49. A Pleated or foam filter is available for this induction kit, if you have a preference please state this when ordering.
With FMINDK49 installed to the vehicle the first thing you will notice is a change in the acoustics to the engine tone. There is now a nice bark at low RPM and a steady induction roar all the way to the red line. The sound is not too intrusive and when driving conservatively, it’s all very civilised and refined.
With vast expertise and experience in air induction filter systems, the 2.0TB power unit needed an extensive amount of testing time to ensure that we ended up with a product that provided genuine improvements over the standard air box. We have increased the filtration surface area by 38% using either our Forge Ramair high flow, pleated, synthetic nanofiber filtration filter, or Pipercross foam filters, which have been manufactured for optimum size and to fit the available space giving superior flow and filtration with enhanced breathing.
The CAD designed, laser cut, and precision folded heat shield has been designed to form a barrier between the air inlet tract and radiant heat from the engine. It also helps duct the cold air to the air filter as the design incorporates the original cold air ducting which helps preserve low intake temperatures and in-turn produces an increase in power. We would expect to see gains of 6-7bhp and 15-18Nm of torque.
Aesthetically, FMINDK49 looks very purposeful in the engine bay and finished in our black textured powder coating, in all creates a superior high quality product, with an OEM look.
Why Do We Try To Decrease IATS?
Temperature and volume of air supplied to your vehicles engine that is compressed by the turbo charger, has a better effect on performance when cool, as this is to provide the engine with more oxygen (denser air), thus improving the combustion in each cylinder. In addition, by regulating and reducing the air temperature, it also increases the reliability of an engine by keeping the AFR’s (Air Fuel Ratios) in each cylinder at a safe level; this in-turn, can increase an engines power due to the air being cooler. A bigger bang is then created within the cylinder, providing the correct amount of fuel is added. This can equate to an increase in BHP and torque.
