This listing is NOT a column for sale. It is for the restoration of YOUR column.
Please note: The pictures above show completed work I've done on 1969 to 1976 Corvette tilt tele columns. YOUR column will be restored to similar condition in YOUR COLOR. If you want a color sanded, compounded, and polished upper portion i have a seperate listing for show quality. Any additional parts or repairs will be extra, and I will contact you to discuss this. The photos shown are columns done for clients. The column comes with NEW ignition switch, c clip retainer, lower mainshaft bearing, and all mechanical portions of the column will be refurbished as needed. I am meticulous as far as cosmetic issues, repair minor imperfections and use the correct color code Corvette paint. The work is correct per the NCRS judging manual. Included are correct part number label and date label. I will need the date code on your trim tag along with the interior color code. If you have any missing parts or additional repairs needed these will be quoted separately.
NOTE: I restore all viable original GM parts, original bearings are repacked, turn signal switch is restored, all lock housing internal parts are restored.
COMMON PROBLEMS:
There are 4 bolts that hold the tilt knuckle to the column mast. These loosen up over time and if so it may end up damaging other parts of the column. If your column is very loose/sloppy most likely you will need additional parts/work.
1) The upper mast may have tear in the metal---welding this is included in restoration cost
2) The tilt knuckle spring pin may break off or be bent. A good used one is $100
3) The bores of lock housing/knuckle may be enlarged---oversize tilt pin(s) may be needed. $40 each
4) The plastic tilt bowl cover may be cracked. This is common also if original. They do not repair well so a new one is $50
Please allow up to 4 weeks for refurbishment. If you need faster turnaround please inquire as my workload varies.
Other extras(if needed):
New horn button $80
New tilt or turn signal levers $35 each
New hazard tulip or chrome button: $25
