Complete set of (qty:4) non-AD ECi cylinder and piston assemblies for a wide-deck Lycoming O-320-D2A. Fits other lycoming engines but check the parts catalog for interchangeability. These parts are interchangeable with Lycoming's LW-12416 cylinder assembly and Lycomings 75089 piston 8.5:1 compression. These parts were removed from a 1965 Piper Cherokee 160 HP.
The Aircraft's engine was overhauled in 2018 and these cylinders were purchased new. The engine ran very well and made expected power except a strange knocking sound could be heard. After multiple attempts at pin-point the sound, the engine's original cylinders were sent off for overhaul. The ECi cylinders were removed at ~220 hours and the overhauled lycoming cylinders were installed. Knocking sound continued. It was eventually determined to be normal cam/valve/exhaust noise and not related to the cylinders at all.
The ECI cylinders were wrapped in plastic, boxed up, and placed in the back shelf of a dry hangar. Unfortunately, in 5 years of storage, pitting corrosion developed on the cylinder walls, near the top of the cylinders. This corrosion was scotch-brited and chemically removed to show the extent of the corrosion. The cylinders were then re-honed and re-measured with a snap-gauge/calipers to ensure it was still within lycoming specs. After photos were taken, they cylinder bores were coated in a preserving oil, re-assembled, and boxed up. All valves are in place, all rings are intact. All studs and threads are in good/great condition. No piston pin. No rocker shafts, no rockers.
