Triple 4 Engineering Ultimate Spec Wading Kit (blue hose) to fit all Land Rover Defender 90, 110 & 130 TD5 models.

Triple 4 Ultimate Spec Wading kits are, in our opinion, the best wading kits on the market today. The specification and quality of Triple 4 wading kit components are way ahead of any other wading kit, be it those from suppliers in the UK, Europe, the USA and even the home of tough 4x4 products, Australia.

What makes Triple 4 Wading Kits the Best?

Triple 4 Ultimate Spec Wading Kits take wading kits to the next Level. They are designed for all forms of off road use, from light overlanding, extreme off road through to competition use. A great deal of off-road experience and attention to detail has gone into the design of each Triple 4 Ultimate Wading Kit.

Triple 4 kits use superior ultra-flexible, highly abrasion resistant 8mm breather hose which allows for more air flow than the 6mm hose used in lower quality kits. We supply you with 30 metres of hose in each kit, which is way more than any other kit on the market. This allows you to route all the breathers exactly where you want them without having to worry about running out of hose.

Triple 4 Ultimate Wading Kits use an alloy manifold (rather than a plastic one, as used in cheaper kits) to connect each individual breather hose into a single outlet. Using an alloy manifold allows you to adapt and add to the breather system on the vehicle. You can add in for example fuel tank breathers (included in this kit) and it gives you the flexibility of using different hose sizes by simply changing a union and adding breathers for things such as winch motors, sealed distributor caps etc.

The Triple 4 gearbox and transfer box breather unions are nickel plated brass, which are strong and are tough enough to take the odd knock, which is inevitable when off road. The internal hose locking mechanisms are brass and stainless steel, allowing for easy disconnecting and reconnecting for maintenance. A hose release tool is included in the kit. (Cheaper breather unions use plastic bodies which don't take knocks all that well and use mild steel locking mechanisms which rust and won't release the hose when the time comes for any maintenance).

The breather unions we use in Triple 4 Ultimate Wading Kits are swivel type unions. This allows you to position the outlet of the breather hose just where you want it. Cheaper kits use fixed unions, where the hose outlet ends up pointing where the union happens to tighten up, not exactly where you want it.

A Triple 4 “Y" connector is used in this kit to connect the Gearbox and Transfer Box breathers together. This forms one outlet to connect to the alloy manifold. The Triple 4 "Y" connectors are made from a superior grade technopolymer shell, again with brass and stainless-steel internals as used in our swivel unions.

For the axle breathers in this kit, you need to remove the cheap factory fitted breathers from the axles. (These prise out easily) You will then need to tap the hole to take Triple 4 brass 90° swivel elbow unions. This can be done very easily. The axle hole is just the right size for the tap needed to thread the hole, so no drilling is required. A tap set is included in this kit. You just need to use plenty of grease on the tap to catch the swarf before it falls in the axle casing. You can then screw in the swivel elbow unions into the axles.

Triple 4 axle breather unions in this kit are swivel unions, just like the gearbox and transfer box unions, they swivel to allow you to position the hose outlet exactly where you need it. Due to the larger thread size used on these unions, they are slightly different to the other swivel unions in our range. They have a corrosion resistant brass body, with the same stainless steel and composite locking internals. A release tool is required to remove the hose from the union, this tool is included in the kit.

An optional fuel tank breather is also included in this kit. A technopolymer connector is included to connect the Triple 4 8mm breather hose to the factory fuel tank breather, an extra union is also provided to allow you to connect it to the manifold.

To finish the Triple 4 Ultimate Wading Kit, a 2 metre length of alloy maluform tube is supplied in the kit. This is to allow you to vent the wading kit up to the top of the raised air intake / snorkel, or up the back of the cab for tray back / competition vehicles. Alloy maluform tube is a rubber lined alloy tube. It retains its shape once bent, so it provides a neat way to finish the wading kit installation. A lot of other kits just use nylon hose for this, nylon hose isn't UV stable and quickly discolours and cracks when exposed to the sun for long periods. Unlike Triple 4 maluform tube which is UV stable and won’t discolour or crack.

The maluform tube will connect directly into the alloy manifold, however, we also supply you with a connector to allow you to connect a length of Triple 4 breather hose between the manifold and the alloy maluform tube. Nylon been much more flexible in routing the hose from the manifold under the bonnet to the raised air intake on the wing.

The alloy maluform tube also come with 4 stainless steel rubber lined "P" clips and self-tappers which you can use to secure the hose to the windscreen frame, or alternatively, and our preferred method, is to cable tie it to the raised air intake or external roll cage.

The kits come with everything needed to fit them, i.e. cable ties and all fixings, all supplied in generous quantities. In all our years of experience, with many other brands of wading kit, you never seem to be supplied with enough cable ties and fixings to do the job.

This kit also comes with a wading plug for the gearbox bell housing along with full fitting instructions for the kit.
