Up for consideration, I have a lower unit removed from a 2004 90 HP Mercury 4 stroke outboard. Its in good working condition. The gear oil doesn't show signs of water or metal shavings. This is for a 20" L shaft engine. I believe this will fit 90/115 HP motors across several years.
