Help replace a damaged steering cylinder

HS5157 Seal + Wrench Kit


  • It is important that you inspect the cylinder rod that it has no scratches, nicks or damaged in anyway, if so, the complete cylinder must be replaced.
  • Failure to replace a damaged steering cylinder will result in seal failure and possible loss of steering.
  • Do not remove shaft from steering cylinder. Bleeding the system to remove any air, replace with Hydraulic Oil HA5340 only.
  • Check for smooth operations and full travel of the cylinder. Check for no leaking.

Step 1


  • Remove the damaged seal with the wrench.

  • Pull of the bracket and install the plastic sleeve.

  • Slide the cap right onto the rod and hand tighten.

  • Slide the bracket back onto the rods and reinstall all the washers and nuts.
