You are looking at a beautiful CUSTOM Built Hi-Perf "7.4 Liter, 454ci, 525 HP 4-BOLT MAIN SHORT BLOCK”. This engine block was built in the mid 2000’s by a local and very highly respected Mercury Master mechanic that has ran his own shop for almost 40 years.  He has now retired and ready to enjoy life without turning wrenches anymore.

Thou Jim built and raced boats professionally, this engine block was in his personal scarab that he and his family used in their off time.  It’s a low time engine with several hundred hours on it at most he says.  It sounded beautiful, it ran beautiful, this is quite the  engine block that is ready to go to good use.

This sale is for the engine block only (as shown).  The block itself was just removed from a perfectly excellent running engine.  I tried to sell the engine as a whole unit - but couldn’t find a buyer for it… so that left me with the option of parting it out.  This is what I did.  I have a video that is here to show you the engine when it was whole and how it ran.  But, please remember, this is for the short block as shown in the pictures only.  Nothing more!

I have taken pictures and a video of this engine as you can see in this sale.  The video was shot at my warehouse, and after the engine being out of the boat for several years.  It took less than a couple minutes to start up and run like you see.  It starts up and shuts down quickly and tightly.  Jim stored it carefully in his shop for future use that just never happened with him.
