72 Volt DC converter replacement for B1Super Cluster assy!
The B1 Super Cluster Upgrade is the Best Cluster Repair Available!!!
This is a new replacement part for the B1 Super Cluster. The B1 cluster core has less than 1% failure! But the part that protects the cluster from surges can eventually wear out. The B1 transformer replaces the original conversion circuits in the OEM cluster. In the event of a surge or short, too high, or too low voltage it will shut down momentarily then restart. When it does eventually wear out, you don't need your cluster rebuilt, just replace the DC converter. A simple test can reveal if your cluster is at fault, or if you need only the Converter.
(
Keep ignition switch off during these tests)
Never disconnect or reconnect any electrical plugs whil
e
main switch under seat is turned on.
With everything plugged into the cluster (on a B1), turn on main disconnect switch under drivers seat. Remove passenger cup holder.
Locate the three wire connector found between the cluster and the DC Converter (aluminum box). Keep connectors attached.
Set your voltmeter to 100 volts DC current.
Slip your Black probe (neg) into one side of three wire connector with the black wire. Make sure meter probe is making good contact with the pin.
Slip red probe (+) into rear of connector where red wire enters connector, make sure of good contact. Meter should read battery voltage 68-77 volts.
If no or low voltage is read, find poor connection going to cluster.
If battery voltage is good, move red (+) probe to center wire Green on cluster side, center yellow on Converter side. Reading should be around 12 Volts DC.
If less than 12 volts DC at center wire, the Converter needs to be replaced. If both 72 volts and 12 volt readings are correct, the cluster has failed.
