Once installed, the ride height must be calibrated to ensure the vehicle is positioned correctly. Failure to perform this step can result in suspension faults and system disablement.
The most frequent problem with air suspension systems is leaking air springs. Over time, the rubber component of the spring can deteriorate, leading to holes and tears that cause air leaks.
A plastic airline within the strut top mount can become brittle and weak over time. Additionally, air struts are susceptible to leaks due to dry rot (cracking) on the underside where the shock absorber meets the spring.
There are numerous warning signs that your air strut has an air leak. It's crucial to accurately identify the source of the leak before replacing an air strut. We have listed most of these warning signs below.
It is best practice to replace air struts in pairs to restore the vehicle to its correct ride height, maintain steering response, and ensure safer road handling. Replacing only the defective spring will cause the older spring to work harder, potentially shortening its lifespan.
