I only used it one time for an ocean crossing from LA to Honolulu. It was operated without the external antenna with no issues. Email, text, phone calls and Grib file downloads all worked flawlessly. This devise takes the fear out of going off grid. It works exceptionally well and you’ll be glad you have it when you go. I have no planned adventures or I’d keep it for myself.
