This is a 
Vintage AIR WAY COMPASS Model 592 in its Original Packaging.

The Compass does float when stood up. 
For accuracy the Compass will require the bottom knobs adjusted. 

I don’t know how much liquid the Compass is suppose to contain, presently the liquid level just touches the bottom of the inner revolving section. Because of this I'm auctioning the Compass AS-IS for Parts or Repair.

The Adhesive Plate is also still in the packaging. 

I can see about a 1 inch split in the see through plastic top of the actual compass (see photo), there are a couple of places where the packaging is missing (see photo), the cardboard is not sealed along one side edge (see photo) and some of the cardboard packaging surface is missing, bent, worn or stained.
