This intake was removed from a 1974 Mercury Cougar with a 400 engine.  It looks like it was used for a very short time. The underside of the intake is spotless.  The intake mating surfaces look great with no pitting or corrosion.  The bolt holes for the carburetor also look good. I did notice one bolt hole with a small nick at the very top. See the photos. I purchased the special 5/16 x 18 thread studs and tested them in the bolt holes and they screwed in easily.

After reading the information about this intake and learning that it came with a required plate for mounting the carb, I purchased one and will include it as well as the special studs.

See my other auction for the Accel distributor removed from this same car. It looks like it also has seen very little use.
