This ignition has an original key and rotates to "on" and the spring loaded "start" position.  When the key is removed, the locking piston protrudes into the steering column to immobilize it.  This ignition works beautifully.

Please note: This unit also has the original anti theft instillation locking bolt which is manufactured to be tightened when installed to the point of breaking the top bolt head off, thereby making it harder for an attempted theft to remove the ignition unit and unlock the steering column.

It is believed that this ignition is originally from a 1966 or 1967 Duetto spider, but it may also fit '68 and '69 and '70 cars and was likely also to have been used by Sprints and Berlinas of this vintage as well.  Please check the photographs closely to make sure this is the proper ignition for your car, as they did change on later model Alfas.
