*** All repairs on the panels for hairline cracks, and parts replacement (speaker grilles, sometimes) are done with Permatex Plastic Welder epoxy. It's a very good and expensive product, I have been working with it for many years now and always had very good results. ***
*** The center inserts were re-glued from the inside with windshield urethane. The fix is not visually pleasant, but it's very very solid, and since it was done on the inside, it's not visible when the panel is installed. ***
Please make sure that your door hinges are in good shape, and that they are not rusted or seized to not put additional stress on the door panel's handles.
*** Even if they have small hairline cracks that are barely visible in some places, the panels, when they clip into the door assembly hold very firmly on the door and do not move. ***
They're in fair shape, but please be advised that they're 20+ year old panels. They're in overall good condition, but please be aware that they are VERY FAR FROM BEING NEW !
Condition - detailed description of the panel:
RIGHT front :
Overall the panel is in good shape. There are some traces from everyday use on it which is normal for any daily used 20+ year old part. It has been fixed where needed.
Other than the normal condition, here are the imperfections that are worth noting:
- The window switch and the door lock switch are missing.
- Door handle frame is intact.
- Top part is in decent shape BUT MIGHT HAVE SOME LIGHT SURFACE SCUFFS!
- Lower mesh pocket was replaced, a new one was glued into place.
- You will need to install the BeetleBrace bracket in the door handle if you do not want the panel to break. The door handle needs to be reinforced. The panels are extremely brittle as they are, and will surely break in the future if the bracket is not used. You can search online for "BeetleBrace bracket" and it will bring you to the needed website. If you have any questions about this, please ask.
