These 429 Cobra Jet shortblock came to me with a 1971 Torino factory 429 Cobra Jet engine. The car was all original/number's matching and the owner was in search of even more power. The heads were removed from the engine along many of the other original parts including the intake, exhaust manifolds, and more. The owner then installed aluminum heads, a roller cam, headers, etc. Shortly after, the owner was then in search of even more power and replaced the entire drivetrain of the car with a larger displacement crate engine, race transmission, and narrowed rearend. The shop doing the work ended up with the original drivetrain as partial payment for the work and I bought the engine and transmission from them. I removed all the speed parts from the 429 Cobra Jet engine and plan to list all the parts here on Ebay. I also plan to list the original 429 4 bolt main Cobra Jet shortblock, the original Cobra Jet heads, original intake, original exhaust manifolds, pulleys, and original automatic transmission. It will take me a bit of time to get these parts listed so keep your eyes on my other listings. 

This factory 429 CObra Jet short block is in good condition as shown. It was removed from the car as a very strong running engine. There are no cylinder sleeves or cracks. The cylinders have been bored .030 inches over and still have strong cross hatching and no rust or pitting. There is no ridge at the tops of any cylinders. The cylinders do have some light vertical scuffs as shown which do not catch a fingernail.  The shortblock turns over well with no binding or sloppiness. The pistons are TRW forged L2366 as shown. The crankshaft is cast "4U" as shown. Looking at the connecting rod caps,the rotating assembly appears to have been professionally balanced. The center 3 main caps have 4 bolts each making this a hard to find "4 bolt main" block. The block has one small repair on the deck surface at the very top passenger side likely due to some coolant passage corrosion. This shortblock could likely be used just as it is. That said, since it is out of a car, now would be a good time to give is a standard rebuild with a hone, new rings, and bearings. Don't miss this real deal factory Ford 429 CObra Jet shortlblock.
