For your consideration is this Volvo marine transmission . 

It was working when removed from a Beneteau sailboat. The internals look very clean. 

I have tested by spinning the shaft and the prop shaft turns, shifts to neutral and it stops, shift into reverse, and prop shifts into reverse as engineered.
