plans have been tested by actually building a set of bars to insure that your
project will be a success and that you will be proud of the results. Now is
your chance to convert your Willys , Chevy or Ford coupe to a true nostalgia
rear suspension and experience the feeling of nostalgia drag racing every
time you pull onto the road and turn heads. Back in the days as they would
say, tire technology was not what it is today and traction even with the
smaller powerplants of the time was a problem. Weight transfer was the
solution that was found to work. High front ends and engines mounted high in
the frame helped to move weight to the rear wheels. Along with these methods
someone got the idea that using long ladder bars mounted between the rear end
and the frame would help transfer more weight as the car left the line. These
plans will produce ladder bars about 18" longer than modern bars. They
are of the old school rectangular tube design and are rigidly mounted to the
rear end housing. Most Gassers use a leaf spring to mount the rear end. The
problem is that the springs and the ladder bars are different lengths and
pivot on different arcs. The short answer is that the suspension binds up and
can not move. The bars in these plans have a very unique front mounting
arrangement that permits the front mount to move with the suspension to
prevent the binding, They have the nostalgia look but have the modern front
mounting arrangement to provide better ride and handling. Application: Universal fit
street or mild strip traction bars. Use with leaf springs The drawing package
includes: Six (6) big 11x17" pages showing you how make all parts,
assemble them and then install the finished product successfully on your car.
In addition to the drawings listed below you also will receive a Bill of

suspension bind. |
