This listing is for a Vintage BENDIX FRIEZ Windial Aerovane Airport Wind Speed Indicator Model 476 WW2 in good vintage used for parts or not working condition.

Includes (Aerovane nose unit, electronic internals and associated wiring, stem section, tail --- as assembly), axial stem, and prop. Unit was taken apart about a decade ago and is now missing some minor hardware. The wiring that leaves the vane stem is not present (cut off prior to acquiring the unit); multiple wires exit and are intended to go to an avionics speed and directional gauge unit for read out. The silver disk taped to the unit attaches the prop unit to the front of the nose unit; when you remove the tape it will pull the primer off, so it'll need to be sprayed down again.

Produced during the WW2 and post-war era (1940s and 1950s) in the USA by Bendix for use on air force bases (this unit was possibly previously in service at Wright-Patterson Airforce Base) to small private airfields. Excellent candidate for restoration as a decor piece for an airport office/lobby, museum or collectors piece, and or to be put back into service at an airfield.
