- This is an unused segment of the Nozzle Guide Vane (NGV)
- of the P&W F-100, an engine for the US fighter F-15 and F-16 .
- NGV: Total length = approx. 14cm. Total width = 8.3cm. Thickness = approx. 5.0cm Weight = 0.38kg ☆ Nickel-based (Ni) heat-resistant alloy Assy Part Number: 4056771
- The NGV is a part that straightens the super-high temperature combustion gas flow in the combustion chamber and directs it to the HPT-1st stage turbine.
- To protect it from the super-high temperature environment, cooling air is blown out from numerous holes on the surface, and it is always covered with a film of air. Otherwise, even if it is a heat-resistant alloy, it will melt in an instant.
- From the HPT-2 stage turbine, there are stator vanes at each stage, which are arranged for straightening like the NGV, but the temperature of the gas flow drops as you go to the later stages, so there is no complex cooling mechanism like the NGV .
- The condition is listed as "unused", but a little explanation is necessary.
- What was brand new became "unusable" parts during long-term storage due to the retirement of the engine or the progress of the modified version , and there are no intentional notches or drill holes, which are often found in released items, to prevent actual use , and the condition is maintained after passing inspection at an FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) certified factory .
