Liquid Image have announced their Wi-Fi (technology that allows an electronic device to exchange data wirelessly) enabled EGO sports camera which will let you send video and pictures wirelessly straight to your iPhone or Android smartphone.
With a
136-degree wide-angle lens the camera is able to shoot images with a resolution
of 12MP whilst video is served up in two forms: 1080p Full-HD at 30fps for the perfectionist
while those looking for more high-speed footage can record in 720p but at
60fps.
The EGO also
supports Micro SDHC up to 32GB which means you'll be able to store thousands of
images and continuously record up to 2 hours of footage until the battery
finally caves in.
In the box
you'll get a tripod and also a multi-directional mount and adhesive pad making sure
that no matter what sport your doing the EGO will be able to capture it
perfectely.
The Liquid Image Ego app, available free on
iOS and Android (called Action Connect),
enables your camera and phone to be synced using wifi so that
you can control the camera remotely.
The camera becomes a Wi-Fi hotspot itself, and once the phone has connected the app allows the shooting of still images, triggering of video recording and changing camera settings, such as frame rate and resolution. You can also watch and share recorded video on your phone or tablet.

The pocket-sized EGO is the latest camera from Liquid Image. It packs the HD capabilities of larger action cameras plus it has built in Wi-Fi transmission to smart devices. No bulky Wi-Fi attachments are required!
The Ego connects to an iOS or Android smartphone or tablet with the use of an App which can be downloaded for free through iTunes or Google Play. The Liquid Image Support page offers video demonstrations on how to connect your device to the Ego. Once connected to the app, the Ego can stream live view as well as transfer and view recorded files. The app can act as a remote control and adjust settings on the Ego. In addition to Wi-Fi, the mountable camera has a 12.0MP camera mode and a video mode that records HD1080P Video at a rate up to 30 frames per second as well as the High Action mode of HD720P video at a rate up to 60 frames per second. This new model also features a continuous shot photo mode.
The Ego is made for a variety of sports and activities. The ¼” threads on the bottom of the Ego work with standard tripod mounts as well as with the flat mount included in the package. The Ego ships with an extra adhesive pad, a protective faceplate to shield from flying debris, and a USB cord. A waterproof case (sold separately) allows the Ego to submerge to a depth of 40m. The EGO is one of three new 2012 Liquid Image cameras which include Wi-Fi internally. Other Wi-Fi models include the Apex HD+ Snow Goggles and Torque HD+ Off-road Goggles.
