Removing and installing cylinder sleeves can be a big pain, especially without the proper tooling.
Remove the sleeves without removing the crankshaft.
I’ve heard stories of welding three places inside of the cylinder sleeves or peeling the sleeve out with a sharpened screwdriver.
One should never use extreme heat or anything that will scar the metal behind the sleeves. This tool is machined to slide inside the sleeve with a lip approximately the size of the outside of the sleeve. The main objective is to end up with a cylinder bore that is smooth and round so the rings will seal properly, the engine will run smoothly, produce maximum power and keep the oil in the crankcase where it belongs.
