Electronic fuel injection systems operate at very high fuel pressures. The electric fuel pump must be able to consistently supply fuel at pressure as high as 75 psi or more. The typical pump has an impeller attached to the end of the motor shaft that draws in fuel from one end and pushes it out at the other end of the pump.
