British Rockers would collect pins (like this one) of all different motorcycle brands and wear them on their leather or wax cotton jackets.

“The Ton – Up Pirates” was a term coined by the British media referring to the leather jacketed Rockers on their motorcycles, who ‘terrorized’ (I’ll use that term very loosely!) the Queens highways in Britain in the 50s and 60s. The phrase “Doing the ton’ means achieving 100mph in British slang, often no mean feat on motorcycles of the period. Shortly after the original Ton-Up Pirates badges became available, the far rarer THE JOLLY ROGERS (essentially a play on words of the Ton-Up Pirates) badges came onto the British market. This badge failed to gain the popularity of the ton up pirates badge. They were available in either red or blue enamel. This is a genuinely rare badge in good condition. Very collectable.

These original pins are beautifully hand made and finished being inlaid with enamel on a chrome die. A high quality item. They make for a fine retro look to your jacket
