Unfortunately, when most factory exhaust manifolds are designed, more attention is paid to how easily they fit in the engine compartment instead of how they affect performance. Most manifolds are inefficient because more than one cylinder dumps exhaust into the same small space. Their restrictive shape chokes your engine, bottling up hidden ponies that are just waiting to be released.

These long tube headers enable your engine to develop its potential in two ways. First, the large diameter individual tubes allow the exhaust to flow unobstructed from the cylinder head, and second, the length and diameter of the tubes are optimally designed for the engine’s exhaust pulses. As the exhaust pulse travels down the header tube, its momentum creates a vacuum behind the pulse as the exhaust valve closes. This helps “scavenge” the remaining exhaust from the combustion chamber as well as help draw the intake charge in. The increased flow and scavenging results in gains in horsepower and torque, and performance improvements you can feel.

But all these performance improvements mean nothing if the headers rust out in a few years. Flowmaster ensures that this won’t happen with Scavenger Series Elite headers by constructing them with durable 409 series stainless steel and then coating them with a high temperature resistant ceramic coating. 409 stainless steel is particularly suited to exhaust systems because it resists both atmospheric and exhaust gas corrosion, and the ceramic coating will ensure your headers remain an attractive part of your engine bay.

Scavenger Series Elite headers are manufactured with rigid 3/8” thick flanges to ensure perfect sealing at the heads, and they feature Flowmaster’s leak-free ball and socket flange to connect with your exhaust system. There’s no need to mess with leaky 3-bolt collector flanges and gaskets. Your headers come with gaskets, hardware and everything necessary for easy installation, including detailed instructions.
