This IPOD adapter is intended to be connected to VW Original Radio/Radio Navigation Systems with a CD changer control system, and uses the same wiring connector positions as a CD Changer, Aux Jack, or USB Connector. It will fit both older 1-DIN devices and new generation devices with a Quadlock connection.
Single input system.
If you fit this iPod Adapter to a standard VW Radio as a Dealer Installed Accessory, or as a Factory installed option, the CD Changer, Aux Jack, or USB connector will be non-functioning. It is not possible to connect and operate two audio devices.
Multi input system.
Vehicles with Radio Navigation System equipped with CD Changers, Aux Jack or USB Connectors are not impacted by the installation of this iPod adapter

Q: Why can’t I use my iPOD ™ controls to select play lists and/or individual songs when it is plugged into the adapter?
A: To prevent driver distraction, controls on the iPOD ™ are locked out when connected to the radio. Features such as fast forward, rewind, next track, previous track, and shuffle can be navigated through the radio or steering wheel controls.
Q: Why don’t the song and artist titles appear on the radio display screen?
A: Because of the nature of this specific kit, song and artist titles are not displayed.
Q: How do I select a song to play from my iPOD ™, using my radio controls?
A: Think of your iPOD ™ as a super CD changer, and each play list as a "CD." Your radio’s CD select buttons 1 – 5 will select play list 1-5, respectively on your iPOD™. Button #6 (extreme right-hand) accesses all play lists. Use the "Seek/Track" button to select the song desired.
Q: What is the expected response time between turning on the radio and the iPod™ taking action?
A: It can vary between 1 to a few seconds.
Q: Why does the iPOD ™ start up on play list 6 instead of the play list that it was originally on when the vehicle was turned off i.e. shut-down on play list 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 and always starts back on play list 6?
A: When you listen to e.g. play list 2, track 23 and turn the vehicle ignition off, pull the key out, come back start the engine the display will show CD6 track 23. That means it will play the same track as before in the same play list but you will see the play list 6. This is because we want to have a current of 0 Amps in non working mode of the iPod ™ adapter. When you choose another play list you will then see the right play list. This is also described in the user manual.
Q: Will the iPOD ™ get charged while plugged into the vehicle?
A: The ™ will get charged when the ignition is in the ON or Run position.
Q: Will I still be able to use my satellite radio when I have the iPOD ™ adapter installed?
A: Yes, The wires for satellite radio receivers are transferred and its operation is not impacted. (See previous chart for restrictions.)
Q: I have an external CD changer or Aux jack. Will I still be able to use these once the iPOD ™ adaptor is installed?
A: No. The iPOD™ adapter uses the same connections as the external CD changer or Aux jack.
Note: For radios with navigation, the Aux function remains in place.
Q: How long should it take to install the iPOD ™ adapter, and do you need to remove the glove box?
A: The ™ adapter can be installed in approximately an hour by removing the radio only.
Q: What model of iPOD ™ does the adapter work with?

Note: The iPOD Shuffle™ is not compatible.
