Description:

  • This auction is for a Genuine Original Harley Davidson NOS parkerized Oversize Gas Tank Bolt set.
  • These are the bolts that hold the gas tanks onto the top of the frame on 1919-36 JD, VL, DL, RL & singles models.
  • They also hold the gas tank filler strip on all 45" models and trike models from 1937-73.
  • These are the oversize 1/4-32 x 7/8" hex bolts, not the stock #3665 7/32-32 x 7/8" size ones.
  • This is the factory oversize bolt that you use when your stock threads get damaged.
  • Just run the special 1/4-32 tap down the bad hole and you are good to go.
  • You are buying one pack of (5) Five Bolts.

 

Here is the number of bolts used per application:

  • 1937-73 45's WL, WLA and Trikes use (2) two bolts to hold on the gas tank filler strip to the frame.
  • WR's use (2) two bolts to hold on the gas tank filler strip.
  • 45 RL's use (5) five bolts to hold on the gas tanks.
  • VL's use (5) five bolts to hold on the gas tanks.
  • Singles use (5) five bolts to hold on the gas tanks.
  • JD's use (6) six bolts to hold on the gas tanks.

 

Note:

  • This is the factory special oversize bolt that is used to fix your frame when the gas tank mounting holes are bad. This bolt has a 1/4-32 thread, where as the standard bolt thread is 7/32-32. Both of these threads are National Special thread sizes and taps are very hard to find.
  • What I do is take the 1/4-32 bolt and run a 1/4-28 fine die over it to change the thread to something that I can get easily. A 1/4-28 tap works great in the stock stripped out thread hole. This works good and looks original on the outside. If you don't want to do this I can get the 1/4-32 taps for you on a special order bases.

  • A $2.00 handling fee will be added to all auctions. $3.50 for International bidders.

  • eBay & Paypal charges the seller 15% of the shipping price so I am forced to charge the bidder the same 15% to cover the full shipping cost. Please complain to eBay about this extra "final value fee". The shipping cost is not part of the auction sale price so eBay should not be making money on it.

  • All foreign Ebay buyers are responsible for all foreign currency exchange rate fees, PayPal (currently is 3 1/2%) or Bank ($15.00 transfer fee).

  • These foreign currency exchange rate fees will be added to the auction invoice total in the extra charges. This may require a separate invoice if the buyer pays for the auction before I have a chance to add the extra charge to the original eBay invoice or the buyer fails to notify the seller that the buyer will be paying from a foreign payment source that will require a foreign currency exchange fee.

  • I ship mainly by USPS but I will ship by FedEx or UPS.

  • I prefer to ship by FedEx instead of UPS. The ebay invoice will list UPS as the shipper but I will be shipping by FedEx.
