The rear trailing arm bushings are a key element of the multi-link rear suspension found on E36, E46, E85, and E86 models. The rear trailing arm bushings maintain proper toe settings under acceleration and deceleration. On a street car, generally the first sign that these bushings are worn is excessive rear tire ware.

This is a pair of OEM Lemforder rear trailing arm bushings, a factory replacement for the E36, E46, E85, and E86 non-M models.
