THE BRAKE LIGHT RELAY IS DESIGNED TO PREVENT THE HIGH AMPERAGE DRAW
OF MODERN BRAKE LIGHT BULBS FROM BURNING OUT THE CONTACTS OF A FACTORY
STYLE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH.

VINTAGE FACTORY BRAKE SWITCHES ARE GENERALLY RATED AT 10 AMPS AND MODERN BULBS WILL DRAW IN EXCESS OF 20 AMPS, THUS CAUSING THE SWITCH TO HAVE A SHORT LIFE EXPECTANCY.

THE RELAY, WHICH REQUIRES LESS THAN 1 AMP TO ACTIVATE, IS ACTIVATED BY
THE SWITCH AND PASSES THE HIGH AMPERAGE TO THE BRAKE LIGHTS SAFELY.

When upgrading tail lights to the newer high wattage halogens, always use a relay. This kit gives you everything you need to protect your wiring and switches.

You can wire your brakes up directly through the your brake light switch, but that is a lot of load on that little switch if you are installing modern bright tail light or bulbs.

RETURNS POLICY: We want you to be totally satisfied with your purchase. If within 30 days after you receive your shipment and you are not satisfied, you may return the item for a refund or an exchange. All exchanged or returned merchandise must be accompanied by an RA number (please contact us for your RA number)in original factory condition with no modifications or alterations. Returned merchandise must include all packaging materials, warranty cards, manuals, and accessories. If the items being returned needs to be repackaged, there will be a repacking charge. Repack the item in a sturdy box with your RA number written in LARGE numbers on the outside of the box and include a copy of your invoice. No returns on electrical parts unless they are defective. Absolutely no returns on special order or closeout merchandise.
